Insider Tips
Practical, on-the-ground advice — best spots, timings and shortcuts. Always follow current Saudi authority guidance and your group leader.
Arrive early for a spot in the Mataf
During busy seasons the Mataf (the open marble area around the Ka'bah) fills quickly before each prayer. Arriving early gives you a calmer Tawaf and a place to sit.
Around 45–60 min before each fard salah in peak season
Stone the Jamarat after Asr on the Tashriq days
The crush at the Jamarat is usually heaviest in the morning. Many find it far calmer to stone in the late afternoon. Follow your group leader and current Saudi guidance.
After Asr is often less crowded
Use the upper floors and roof for Tawaf when crowded
If you are able to walk further, the first floor and roof are much less crowded than the ground-level Mataf, especially during peak hours.

Keep a small bag for your shoes
Carry a cloth shoe-bag so you can keep your shoes with you rather than searching the shelves afterwards in a huge crowd.
