Ihram: The Sacred State
Entering the sacred state of pilgrimage.
Ihram is the sacred state a pilgrim enters before beginning 'Umrah or Hajj. It begins with the intention (niyyah) and the Talbiyah, and is marked for men by two simple unstitched white cloths.

Before Ihram, it is recommended to:
- Trim the nails and remove unwanted hair
- Perform ghusl (a full wash)
- Wear the Ihram garments (for men)
Once in Ihram, the pilgrim recites the Talbiyah frequently.
